TC highlights fundamentals of the Constitution of the Republic

Africa-Press – Angola. The president of the Constitutional Court (TC), Laurinda Cardoso, considered this Friday that the Constitution of the Republic of Angola reinforced the foundations of the Angolan State.

The judge was speaking, in Cabinda, at the Technical-Academic Conference on the Constitutional protection of the Rights of the Child, framed in the activities of the 13th anniversary of the Magna Carta, marked on the 5th of the current month.

The president of the TC underlined the fact that the Constitution is “anchored” in the principles of the Democratic State and the rule of law, in respect for the dignity of the human person and in the will of the people.

Among the fundamental objectives of the said principles, he said, was the construction of a free, fair, democratic, solidary society, of equality and social progress.

In her speech, Laurinda Cardoso recalled that the Constitution of the Republic safeguards the rights and freedoms of children.

He added that the core of the protection of children’s rights is their integral, harmonious education, the protection of health, living conditions and education, being a responsibility of the family, the State and society.

Governor highlights the event

“We feel privileged to be part of these initiatives that aim to encourage public debate around the theme of the Constitutional Protection of Children’s Rights”, said, on the occasion, the governor of Cabinda, Mara Quiosa.

The governor considered it essential to always look at children as the main focus of governance actions.

Divided into two panels, the Conference will discuss, among other topics, “The Constitutional System for the Protection of Children’s Rights”, “Child Protection Mechanisms and Judicial Power Intervention” and “Children in Conflict with the Law and the Role of the State in its Resocialization”.

Within the scope of activities in favor of the 13th anniversary of the Magna Carta, the TC has planned to launch a version of the Constitution of the Republic for Children and a comic strip with simple language.

It is also planned to launch copies of the Constitution of the Republic of Angola in national languages.
