Africa-Press – Angola. Angola beat Cameroon on Friday, in Luanda, 2-1, on the third day of the Africa Davis Cup Group IV in Tennis, which takes place on the fields of the Kikuxi Villas Club Academy, in Viana.

After consecutive defeats, at the beginning of Wednesday and the following day, against Algeria and Senegal, for series A, the Angolan players overcame the Cameroonians in the doubles dispute, after drawing in the two singles games.

In the first singles match, Chris André lost to Okala Alex, 0-6, 6-3 and 6-1. Félix André beat Etienne Ouvi, 6-3, 3-6 and 6-3 sets.

In doubles, F. André/Fernando defeated O.Alex/B.Kamdem, with scores of 6-4, 3-6 and 6-1.

Overall, the host country’s team won 2-1.

Still in the same series, Algeria lost to Senegal, 0-3, in singles and doubles.

Algerian Youcef Rihane lost to Senegalese Nicolas Jadoun, 6 (8) -7, 7/7-5/2

-6, while Seydina André beat Algerian Toufik Sahtali, 6-1, 7 (1) 6, in tie break.

In doubles, the Senegal team was also superior.

The competition, part of the International Tennis Federation (ITF) calendar, is attended by eight countries from the continent and will qualify the first two classified for Group three.

Organized in partnership with the Angolan Federation of the sport (FAT), it is the first time it has taken place in the country.

The global competition has the ability to involve the main men’s teams from countries on all continents.
