Africa-Press – Angola. Angolan tennis player Jolino Simão faces, Wednesday, in Luanda, Marcus Simane, from Botswana, in the men’s Under-14 African Circuit final, taking place on the courts of the Kikuxi Villas Club Academy, in Viana.

To reach this final stage of the competition for both sexes, included in the International (ITF) and continental (CAT) Federation calendars, the country’s representative won Tuesday the Mozambican Rosa Amine, by two sets to one, with the partials of 1-6, 6-1 and 6-4 (tie break), in the semi-final.

Jolino Simão, better known as Lino, is affiliated with Clube de Ténis de Luanda (CTL).

On the same day, the Angolan’s opponent in the final, Marcus Simane, knocked out fellow Mozambican Pedro Alberto.

As for the women’s sector, the final will be between Charles Chapepa (Zimbabwe) and Didi Carine (Nigeria), who overcame the Mozambicans Siena Esteves and Lorena Celestino, respectively.

Regarding the Angolan players, on Monday, in the quarter-finals, they were below expectations. Ana João lost to Zimbabwean Charles Chapepa, by two sets to zero, with partials of 6-2 and 6-1, while Dadara Roque was defeated by Mozambican Siena Esteves, by double 6-1.

Despite this, the hosts should play in the pairs final, against the Mozambicans.

The event, which scores the ITF/CAT ranking, has fifty players representing Angola, Botswana, Mozambique, Namibia, Zimbabwe, Madagascar and Nigeria.

The unprecedented event marks the beginning of Angola in the organization of international competitions of the ITF and CAT, contributing to the sporting prestige of the country.
