Africa-Press – Angola. The national tennis teams (under-14 and 16), of both sexes, started, in the city of Harare, Zimbabwe, in the worst way the Zonal of the modality, despite a victory in a men’s match.

Of the five Angolan players in the competition, which will take place from the 7th to the 15th of this month, on the courts of the Zimbabwean capital, only Daniel Domingos was successful against the Mozambican Heric Singulani, by 2 sets to 1, with the partials of 4/ 6 and double 6/4.

The remaining four national tennis players, two men and an equal number of women, did not have the desired success, leaving them to play in pairs, which according to coach João Almeida, said performance is a reflection of the lack of internal competitive shooting.

After a thorough preparation in Luanda, the Angolan representatives aimed to qualify for the next African Championship of the category, next March, in Tunisia.

Headed by the vice-president of the Angolan Tennis Federation (FAT), João Nsanda, the country’s delegation is made up of players Emerson Quitumina, Daniel Domingos, Justino Rodrigues, Mariana Costa and Ana Lemos.

In the previous edition, also in Harare, the National Team missed the semi-finals of the competition, in men.

In addition to Angola, the competition in the Southern Region of the continent has representatives from the host country, South Africa, Botswana, Namibia, Lesotho, Mozambique, Malawi and Zambia.
