Africa-Press – Angola. The national table tennis teams got off to a good start at the African Championship in zone V, for both sexes, which will be played from (Thursday, 29th) until next 3rd of July, in Gaborone, in the Botswana.

In this start of the men’s team competitions, the Angolan representation beat Zimbabwe, by 3-0, while the women’s team also defeated Lesotho, by the same result.

With this result, Angola, which faces South Africa in the final, is already qualified, by teams, for the African Championship, to take place later this year, in Tunisia.

In the previous edition, in 2022, in the South African city of Johannesburg, the national combined finished in second place in the general classification, with a silver medal, a test won by South Africa.

Guided by coach Manuel Pimenta, led by manager Hélder Almeida, the players Elizandro André, Edvane Neto, Domingos Manuel and Luís Mudil are part of the selection.

The group is completed by Isabel Albino, Ruth Tavares, Kailane de Sousa, Eugénia Simões and Nelma Moisés.

The event will be attended by representatives from Angola, South Africa, Botswana, Namibia, Zambia, Malawi, Zimbabwe and Lesotho.
