Africa-Press – Angola. The athletes of Kikuxi Villas Club (KVC) once again stood out at the stage in Portugal, with the conquest of first place on the podium, in Under-14, and second place, in Under-18, in the fourth stage of the Youth Circuit 2022, played in Espinho, district of Aveiro, last weekend.
Justino Rodrigues left no room for competition and snatched the gold medal, while Daniel Domingos became runner-up. In four competitions played, the tennis players of the association of the municipality of Viana achieved three cups.
The competitions played so far, in Portuguese lands, are part of the competition calendar of the Portuguese Federation of the sport. As they are athletes who regularly form part of the National Teams, the KVC board took advantage of the school holidays to provide them with a 60-day internship, the result of a partnership with the Caldas da Rainha Tennis Club.
Justino Rodrigues did not hide his satisfaction at the achievement and said that the victory had “a special taste”, for the level presented by the opponents throughout the tournament.
“It was a difficult competition, with excellent opponents. As a result of my dedication I managed to reach the final, in a very balanced match, but I managed to snatch the title”.
On the other hand, Daniel Domingos highlighted the competitive experience and the exchange with
from other championships: “Second place is prestigious, because there are many who are aiming for the final, but only two have made it. Congratulations”.
It should also be noted that, at the beginning of the month, Gabriel Martins and Mirian Tuluca achieved second place in the doubles tournament, the same result achieved by Mariana Costa (single) a week ago.
Another senior tennis player, who is part of the groups guided by coach José André Almeida, is Hedvirgens Tuluca who spoke about the training and the sequence of games: “We have trained triple what we do in Angola, to be up to the tournaments with a good level. raise my physical and tactical level, with a view to national and international competitions”.
