Africa-Press – Angola. The Minister of Foreign Affairs presented, Friday (14), to the Rwandan President, Paul Kagame, Lieutenant General Nassone João, who will head the ad-hoc Verification Mechanism, created within the scope of the Roadmap of the International Conference on the Region of the Great Lakes (CIRGL) for pacification in the East of the DRC, adopted at the Tripartite Summit in Luanda, in July this year.

Téte António was received by President Paul Kagame, as part of a working visit within the framework of Angolan mediation to the situation of tension between the DRC and the Republic of Rwanda.

The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Téte António, was in Kinshasa, where, in the same way, he made the presentation of Lieutenant General Nassone João to the Head of State of the DRC, Félix-Antoine Tshisekedi.

Presidents Félix-Antoine Tshisekedi and Paul Kagame met on 6 July in Luanda, having agreed an immediate ceasefire and the creation of an ad-hoc Observation Mechanism, to be led by an Angolan general officer.

The meeting between the statesmen, which took place under the auspices of the Head of State, João Lourenço, as acting president of the International Conference on the Great Lakes Region (CIRGL).

At this meeting in Luanda, the three (3) Presidents expressed their satisfaction with the progress achieved and the satisfactory results regarding an understanding of the tension experienced in the East of the DRC.
