Africa-Press – Angola. The provincial pastor of the Pentecostal Assembly of God Church in Luanda, António Joaquim de Sousa, said that the Church must act as a benchmark in times of elections to curb the brash speeches of politicians and ensure that peace is valued above all.
According to the pastor, the Church in Luanda knows that August 24, the date set for this year’s elections, is a milestone that began in 1992. It continues to pray for peace and politicians have an obligation to preserve it.
“The moment ahead, sometimes, there is some political turmoil, muscled speech by some politicians and this is not good for peace, it is not good for coexistence, it is not good for the pacification of spirits. Therefore, the Church is the mark and also the plumb line, because the psalmist expressed himself saying that happy is the Nation whose God is the Lord”, he said, during the last service.
In turn, the deputy administrator for the Political and Social area of the municipality of Kilamba Kiaxi, in Luanda, Tito Barreiro, attended the conference with the presence of the municipal administrator.
Tito Barreiro said, on the occasion, that the Government counts on the Church as a partner in solving many problems in the community, but mainly in the moralization of the spirits of families.
“Two words catch my attention in this Church: to serve with excellence and to conquer promises. The Church, with your prayers, is the only institution that can change people and that is to serve with excellence. To conquer promises, is to conquer souls for God This is the main role of the Church and then comes the complement that they have done very well so far in the areas of Health, Education and other social support”, he said.
The municipal official said that it is necessary to calm the spirits of the families, because, in this way, there will be a good Nation to live in.
The Pentecostal Assembly of God Church closed the IX Provincial Biblical Conference of Luanda a few days ago, having addressed the theme “Do not remove the landmarks left by the ancients” in a week, in an event witnessed on average by more than a thousand faithful.
