Africa-Press – Angola. Three people died and 18 others were injured, Monday, in Huambo province, as a result of a car accident on National Road 352, on the Chicala-Cholohanga/Cachiungo section.
According to the head of the Institutional Communication and Press department of the National Police in Huambo, chief inspector Carla Solange, the accident occurred when a Shanghai brand vehicle, driven by a national citizen, who was doing the taxi service, burst one of the front tires, causing the rollover, which caused the accident on the aforementioned section, located in the village of Lundo.
Subsequently, three people lost their lives and another 18 suffered minor serious injuries, who were promptly transported to the Municipal Hospital of Cachiungo which, after sorting, transferred them to the General Hospital of Huambo, where they receive medical treatment/medicine.
The director of Cachiungo municipal hospital, Benjamim Carlos, said that they had received 21 victims, of whom one died at the accident site, two in the health unit, while another 18 were injured.
Of the injured already transported to Huambo General Hospital, he said, three are serious, two are in critical condition and the others are reasonable.
According to Traffic and Road Safety specialists, who went to the scene of the accident, lack of precaution and excessive speed were the main causes of the accident.
They appealed, therefore, to drivers to adopt a responsible posture and respect the norms that govern the Highway Code in order to avoid the loss of human lives.
