Africa-Press – Angola. Traffic was reopened Wednesday afternoon on National Road 120, which leads to the province of Cabinda through the municipality of Nóqui in the northern province of Zaire.
More than 70 trucks bound for Cabinda province and the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) had been stranded for five days on this dirt road, which was damaged by heavy rains in the region.
The drivers thanked the Zaire provincial government for its prompt intervention and asked the companies contracted to rehabilitate the EN120 on this stretch to speed up the completion of the work, which began about two years ago.
The governor of Zaire, Adriano Mendes de Carvalho, guaranteed that everything would be done to complete the work on this national road.
It was an embarrassing situation for our truck drivers for five days, but fortunately we were able to restore traffic,” said the governor.
National Road 120, between the communes of Mbanza Kongo and Nóqui, has been under construction for more than two years, and more than 123 kilometers of the planned 165 kilometers have already been paved.
