Africa-Press – Angola. Tulinabo Mushingi, who has been in the country for a week, is the new US ambassador to Angola. He presented his credentials in the afternoon, having been the first to do so at this time.
He said that the meeting served to analyze the priorities in the relations between the two States, which are capable of producing favorable results for both peoples.
Accordingly, he referred that the conversation focused on three pillars, namely, Security, economic prosperity and “good governance”, which, as he underlined, will include “transparent, free, democratic elections and respect for Human Rights”.
“I know that, since 2017, the President of Angola and the Government have already started some political and economic reforms and we will continue to support the Angolan people in this path of economic reform”, he assured.
Tulinabo Mushingi, who speaks fluent Portuguese, is a Ph.D. He was nominated by President Biden on April 19 of last year and confirmed by the US Senate on December 18 of the same year. Previously, he served as ambassador to Senegal and Guinea-Bissau from 2017 to 2022 and as ambassador to Burkina Faso from 2013 to 2016.
Bulgarian ambassador Maria Pavlova Kaymakthieva said that although her country does not have an Embassy in Angola, will work to strengthen political dialogue, economic relations and review some agreements between the two countries.
