Africa-Press – Angola. A factory with a capacity to transform 1,700 tons of coffee/year begins operating, before the end of this year, in the main municipality of the province of Uíge, aiming to contribute to the promotion, industrialization and commercialization of this crop.
The province has two coffee processing factories, operating in the municipalities of Uíge and Negage.
The new coffee factory, installed around 15 kilometers from the city of Uíge, in a field of 25 hectares of planted coffee and five hectares of cocoa, was visited, Friday, by the provincial governor of Uíge, José Carvalho da Rocha.
Speaking to the press, owner of the enterprise, Manuel Rodrigues, said that the factory has areas for storage, peeling, roasting, packaging, grinding, coffee packaging, among other spaces.
The project by the company M. Rodrigues Construções had a budget valued at 800 million Kwanzas, financed under the Production Support, Export Diversification and Import Substitution Program (PRODESI).
He also informed that around 100 thousand seedlings produced in the local season will begin to be distributed to local producers, starting next October.
In turn, the deputy governor of Uíge for the Political, Economic and Social sector, Sónia Arlete, said that the factory’s entry into operation this year will increase the local transformation of coffee.
The region expects to harvest more than ten thousand tons of coffee this year, in an effort carried out by two more families dedicated to the production of this crop.
