Africa-Press – Angola. The provincial secretary of JURA in Luanda, Domingos Palanga, said yesterday, at a press conference, that the level of unemployment in the country is due to the lack of social policies of the Government.
He added that, according to the National Statistics Institute, the unemployment rate in Angola increased to 7.5 percent in the last quarter of 2021, year-on-year, and fell to 3.5 percent compared to the previous quarter, standing at 3.5 percent. at 32.9%.
The secretary of UNITA’s “youth arm” defended that unemployment in Angola affected 59.2 percent of the young population aged between 15 and 24, and that the main causes are the economic crisis, the reduction of jobs, the lack of professional qualification, as well as technological development.
UNITA, he continued, would be able, in a short space of time, to reverse the current situation of unemployment in Angola, because the country has a set of natural conditions, capable of offering the good and the best for all.
“The consequences of unemployment generate social, economic and psychological problems, affecting the quality of life, the way of life and the well-being of the individual and his household”, he observed.
