Africa-Press – Angola. Cultural agents and creators from Huíla Province have been benefiting, since Monday in Lubango City, from training on strengthening the capacities of local artists to take advantage of business opportunities, a programme sponsored by UNESCO.
The event, happening under the umbrella of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) in partnership with the Ministry of Culture, is part of the initiatives to prepare the city for its affirmation within the Creative Cities Network.
In statements, in this city, on the sidelines of the event, the representative of the Angolan National Commission for UNESCO, Ngombo Calemba, highlighted the importance of the activity, as it will endow artists from various cultural associations to improve the standardization of content, with a view to contributing to cultural, social and economic development.
The head of the national culture department also mentioned that the training is part of ongoing efforts to promote creative industries in Huíla Province, with cultural associations considered key players in consolidating Lubango’s position on the creative cities circuit.
During the day, participants are receiving detailed information about awards, calls for proposals, and international funding mechanisms available under UNESCO.
The event includes representatives from the cultural, artistic, and
creative sectors of the municipalities of Palanca, Humpata, Chibia, and Lubango.
