Africa-Press – Angola. The Ministry of Public Administration, Labor and Social Security (MAPETSS) and CG SILA, UNTA-Confederação Sindical and Força Sindical will meet today, in Luanda, to essentially address the issue of the management of funds related to Social Security.

Trade unionists argue that the various trade union movements should participate or be part of the management of money directed to the workers’ Social Security, essentially in the application of money that, to a large extent, is idle and does not generate income.

According to the general secretary of CG SILA, Francisco Jacinto Gaspar, “it is not certain that Social Security funds are managed by the National Institute of Social Security without the participation of its legitimate representatives, insofar as the money is not invested in projects that help, to a great extent, in solving the problems that the class faces”, he noted.

Francisco Jacinto Gaspar believes that the meeting will serve to “find a middle ground in this regard, in addition to other issues inherent to the national minimum wage and workers’ rights”. of disputes with the working class in the different sectors, ultimately the trade union centrals, instead of approaching with personalities devoid of authority, remembering that, in the current legislature, the Technical Commission only met once with the Government, when the meetings must be fetuses every year.

“We have been misunderstood, as a trade union movement, but to say that the union emerged before the creation of the first political party, having been formed by workers interested in helping the company run and safeguarding workers’ rights”, he recalled.

Asked about the allegations of the Executive on the liquidity limitations to implement an increase of more than 50 percent, Francisco Jacinto Gaspar said that the studies carried out by the union centrals guarantee that the problem has nothing to do with the lack of money, since “there are conditions for a ceiling fairer, as long as there is political will”.

Salary increase

A week ago, the union movement constituted by the National Union of Angolan Workers (UNTA), CG SILA and Força Sindical sent a joint memorandum to the President of the Republic, to protest against the disparities in the increase of the national minimum wage, by 50 percent, and in other salary adjustments, around 4.0 percent.

In a consultation meeting, the trade unionists analyzed, in depth, the different interests of workers and their families in view of the situation that the national economy presents. “We decided to present our protest to the Government, as we were not called or invited to approach, discuss and reach consensus on the national minimum value, as legitimate partners for the resolution of issues of this nature”, said Francisco Gaspar.
