Africa-Press – Angola. The presidents of UNITA and FNLA defended, this Friday, in Luanda, that the elections, scheduled for next August, should be held in an environment of peace, concord and peaceful coexistence among all Angolans, regardless of party affiliation or sympathy.

Speaking to the press at the end of the audience granted by the President of the Republic, João Lourenço, the leader of UNITA highlighted that “the elections must not take place in an environment of violence at any level”, after considering the “long-awaited meeting” to be positive. addressing various issues at this pre-campaign stage.

Adalberto Costa Júnior said that it was possible to present the essential and relevant issues of the moment that Angola is experiencing, stressing the opportunity to dialogue and the need to appeal to everyone to do much more in defense of peace and democracy.

“Essential issues today are the need for permanent dialogue, issues related to the electoral registration process. I hope that at the end of the seven days we will not continue to see huge queues, because we are concerned about respecting the dates, the commitments to carry out the elections,” he noted.

According to the UNITA leader, the plurality of the media was addressed a lot, highlighting the need to respect the law and the practice of contradictory.

In another audience, the Head of State received the president of the National Front for the Liberation of Angola (FNLA), Nimi a Simbi, with whom he analyzed the moment in the country. According to the leader of the FNLA, all problems must be resolved on the basis of dialogue.

“All parties must make an effort for transparency and fairness. I told the President of the Republic that the FNLA will never resort to violence. All our problems involve dialogue”, he reaffirmed.

On the party’s situation, Nimi a Simbi stressed that he found the FNLA “completely disorganized”, so it is now working to restore that political force within the municipalities and communes so that it can “control the elections well”.
