Africa-Press – Angola. The UNITA Parliamentary Group congratulated MP João Kanda Bernardo on his recent election as executive member of the Advisory Board of the International Youth Parliament.
In a note sent to the press, the Parliamentary Group praised the achievement, considering that the election of the deputy, the first Angolan to hold the position, represents a source of national pride and international recognition for the African continent, especially for Angolan youth. UNITA stressed that this achievement “honors and elevates the name of Angola in the international arena”, expressing its best wishes to the parliamentarian in carrying out his mission, focusing on defending the political, civil, social, economic and cultural rights of youth.
Among the rights mentioned are the “right to public participation, freedom of expression, education, health, decent employment and other fundamental guarantees”. The Parliamentary Group also reiterated its commitment to continue supporting Angolan youth in their causes and expressed the expectation that this election will serve as an inspiration to more young people for civic and political engagement in favor of the common good, according to the same source.
