UNITA defends greater rigor in the quality of works

Africa-Press – Angola. The secretary of UNITA in Cunene province, Turga Pangeiko, defended, this Friday, greater rigour, monitoring and inspection of the various public investment projects underway in the country, particularly in the region.

The leader made this statement during a press conference on the current state of the Cunene River Water Transfer System from the Cafu conduit, which shows the displacement of some plates and fissures, as a result of the rains that are felt in the region.

The rains, which fall in the province of Cunene, created several damages, as a result of the floods in the municipalities of Cuanhama and Namacunde.

Preliminary work is currently underway in order to better direct the traditional water courses and avoid further major damage, pending the end of the rainy season.

However, the contractor assured that he would assume all the responsibilities inherent to the contract, taking into account that the project is within the three-year guarantee period.

“There is a need for the Government to intensify the supervision of the works, so that the country has infrastructure with the desirable quality”, said the politician, without alluding to the rain that fell on the space.

He said that UNITA, as a party, will continue to monitor and denounce the anomalies, with a view to ensuring the efficiency of programs and projects underway in this region.

The secretary understands that a serious and impartial inspection will prevent the recurrence of problems that hinder the existing good relations of foreigners who intend to invest in the country.

UNITA constitutes the main opposition force in Angola, being represented in the Parliament with 90 deputies, in a total of 220 seats.

The MPLA is the majority party, having 124 seats.
