Africa-Press – Angola. Deputies from the UNITA parliamentary bench have been working since Tuesday, in the province of Bié, with the aim of listening to local civil society about the institutionalization of local authorities in Angola.
Deputy Simão Dembo said that, after public consultation, the UNITA parliamentary group will move forward, during the month of April, with a bill for local elections.
On the other hand, Simão Dembo, who is also one of the vice-presidents of the largest opposition party, said that, during their four-day stay in this central/southern region of the country, parliamentarians will assess the motivational level of the party’s cadres, given to new challenges.
He explained that the visit will also serve to carry out solidarity actions with the various communities and travel to the main markets in the province.
The agenda of UNITA deputies includes meetings with religious leaders, doctors’ and nurses’ unions, as well as teachers’ unions.
It also includes a visit to Aldeia Nissi, the home for the elderly in Cuito, as well as public institutions in Cuito and Andulo.
The delegation is made up of deputies from the national cycle Simão Dembo and Anabela Sapalalo and from the provincial cycle Celso Torres and Rodrigues Tandala.
