Africa-Press – Angola. UNITA deputy, Xavier Manuel, stated this Tuesday, in Ndalatando, Cuanza-Norte, that the institutionalization of local authorities constitutes one of the party’s main focuses for the next two years.

Speaking to the press, as coordinator of the “Deputation” Days for the Communities of the UNITA Parliamentary Group in Cuanza-Norte, the parliamentarian informed that to give substance to the initiative to institutionalize local authorities, the party is listening to the communities about the municipal preliminary project.

For the deputy, the institutionalization of local authorities is a fundamental part of overcoming the main difficulties faced by communities.

Xavier Manuel clarified that due to the lack of information in Angolan society on the issue of local authorities, the UNITA parliamentary group is taking the matter to the communities, to debate with civil society and not just in parliament.

The politician drew citizens’ attention to an in-depth reflection on the advantages of implementing local authorities.

During the first day of the “Deputation Days”, UNITA parliamentarians visited the Bishopric of the Diocese of Ndalatando, where they were received by the vicar Morua Clemente and the Council of Christian Churches in Angola (CICA).

In both meetings, several topics were discussed about the country’s social life and the need to implement local authorities.

The prelate, in statements to the press at the end of the meeting, representing the bishop of the Diocese of Ndalatando, urged citizens to work for a better country, where there is harmony, love for others and solidarity.

The deputy provincial secretary of CICA in Cuanza-Norte, pastor Lúcio Marques, said that politicians must reach consensus on issues that contribute to the country’s development, with the church being responsible for sensitizing citizens to adhere to processes in an orderly, civic and worthy.

The deputies also visited the headquarters of the National Association of the Blind and Visually Impaired of Angola and some victims of the rains and handed over some donations.

The day, ending on Friday, involves listening to academics, street vendors, teachers, doctors and nurses, peasants, among other forces in society.

In addition to Cazengo, the seat of the province, the parliamentary action will extend to the municipality of Cambambe.
