Africa-Press – Angola. UNITA in the province of Moxico recommended, this Tuesday, in Luena, rigor in the monitoring of program actions in the General State Budget in the current financial year (2024), to satisfy collective interests.
Speaking at a press conference about the current economic and social state of this region, the deputy from the Moxico provincial circle, João Muzaza, called for society’s involvement in monitoring the implementation of the OGE, for the successful execution of the programmed projects.
In case of breach of contract, the politician encouraged the population to report it to the General Inspectorate of State Administration (IGAE) for due accountability.
On the other hand, he appealed to the government to materialize road construction projects, in order to stimulate economic activity in the region, with emphasis on the agricultural sector.
In this field, the Agriculture cabinet suggested greater incentives for producers, to maximize family farming, with a view to reducing hunger and poverty in the country’s communities.
For the current calendar year, the Government of Moxico proposed to prioritize the completion of works on social projects that have been suspended for several years, including the Instituto Médio Politécnico in the Alto Luena neighborhood, the primary school “Comandante Kwenha”, in the center of the capital city , with the capacity to accommodate five thousand and 400 students.
Still in the education sector, the region has seen the closure of a primary school in the Tchifuchi neighborhood, with a capacity of 19 classrooms, and a Mother and Child Center in the city of Luena, whose work has been interrupted due to financial difficulties.
Within the scope of the Integrated Municipal Intervention Plan (PIIM), in a universe of 139 projects, 71 were inaugurated and 31 are paralyzed, while the rest are being implemented.
Recently, in statements to the press, the governor, Ernesto Muangala, envisaged 2024 as a year of “a lot of work”, to guarantee the region’s development.
Regarding roads, the governor was optimistic about the start of work on the National Road 250 (EN250), which will connect the regions of Luena/Munhango, in Bié, (156 kilometers), Luena/Léua-Cameia (102 kilometers) and Luzí/Cassamba/Cangamba (more than 200 kilometers).
In the water sector, the Government plans to build three collection, treatment and distribution systems in the municipal headquarters of Léua, Luau and Alto Zambeze.
Moxico is a province of Angola, made up of the main municipalities (Moxico), Camanongue, Léua, Cameia, Luacano, Luau, Alto Zambeze, Bundas and Luchazes, is inhabited by 994 thousand 53 people, of which 506 thousand 837 are women, according to forecasts from the National Statistics Institute (INE).
The General State Budget (OGE) for 2024, includes revenues estimated at 24.7 billion Kwanzas and expenses set at the same amount, while the province of Moxico benefited from a budget valued at 89 billion Kwanzas.
