UNITA reiterates commitment to peace and democracy

Africa-Press – Angola. UNITA’s secretary general, Álvaro Chicuamanga Daniel, reaffirmed (Thursday), in the city of Cuito, Bié province, his party’s commitment to maintaining peace, consolidating democracy, national reconciliation and unity.

The politician was speaking to the press, after being received, in a courtesy meeting, by the governor of Bié, Pereira Alfredo, as part of his three-day visit to this region.

To this end, he said it is necessary to encourage permanent, frank and open dialogue, so that coexistence in differences is possible between activists from different political parties.

The UNITA leader pointed out that this mechanism helps to cultivate unity, respect for party differences, democratic culture and other assumptions aimed at defending the homeland and promoting sustainable development.

He also asked the local governor to continue working with different political formations, in order to preserve the peaceful environment in this region and contribute to the process of sustainable development.

“The MPLA and UNITA have the greatest responsibility for preserving peace in the country, because they are the ones that bring together the largest militant mass”, said the general secretary of the largest opposition party.

On the other hand, Álvaro Chicuamanga Daniel defended greater rigor, monitoring and supervision of public works, to ensure that they are of the appropriate quality.

He said that UNITA, as a party, will continue to monitor and report anomalies, to ensure the efficiency of ongoing programs and projects.

As part of his visit to this province, Álvaro Chicuamanga Daniel will hold meetings with religious entities, traditional authorities and officials at provincial, municipal and communal levels.
