UNITA’s position, presented at a press conference by the secretary-general, Álvaro Chikwamanga, results from a thorough assessment of the violent content, which, four months before the general elections, are likely to divert the attention of the national community. and international.

“UNITA categorically detaches itself from any responsibility and links to alleged militias”, said Chikwamanga, adding that his party strongly condemns the association of his image with any actors who intend to disturb political and social stability. continued, urges the competent authorities to investigate the promoters of these slanderous and defamatory actions, to clarify public opinion. “We believe that the National Police should take the situation to heart, and, in this sense, we have already sent a communication to the Police to the matter,” said the politician.

The secretary general of UNITA, Álvaro Chikwamanga, recalls that, in August, the country will hold general elections for the fifth time in 46 years of independence. The context of electoral competition, he said, requires an environment of openness, exemption and respect for difference, on the part of public and private institutions, factors that promote the full exercise of citizens’ rights and freedoms and ensure free, equal and conscious voting, within a framework of transparency, fairness and electoral truth.

“UNITA remains deeply committed to Peace, to the values ​​of democracy, because it is its conviction that only a truly democratic and lawful State can guarantee good governance, peaceful coexistence in differences, which requires political elevation and morals,” he concluded.
