United Nations wants to adjust cooperation to the Development Plan

Africa-Press – Angola. The United Nations agencies operating in the country, with emphasis on FAO, UNICEF, UNDP and WHO, will, as of next year, work with various ministerial departments, within the scope of a new cooperation framework, adjusted to the Development Plan. National (PDN).

The resident coordinator of the United Nations in the country, Zahira Virani, explained at the end of the audience with the Vice-President of the Republic, Esperança da Costa, in Cidade Alta, that the strategy stems from a deployment of operations aimed at strengthening assistance in Executive actions in favor of sustainable development.

“We will continue to work together to achieve our common goals, enshrined in the 2030 agenda and in the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)”, assured the official of the United Nations. Zahira Virani said that she assured the vice-president of the Republic of all the support from UNO agencies in programs aimed at the country’s sustainable growth.

The UNO resident coordinator said that Angola can count on 100 percent support from the United Nations agencies, which work in close collaboration with the various ministerial departments.

He added that all agencies working in the country “will continue to do their best, so that the Sustainable Development Goals are achieved, especially in the Education, Health and Environment sectors, responding to the phenomena caused by drought and climate change.” Virani said that he took advantage of the meeting to congratulate the vice-president of the Republic on her election, stressing that “Angola is one of the few countries to elect a woman in this role”.
