US-Africa Summit: Téte António assesses preparation with the American Ambassador

Africa-Press – Angola. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Téte António, evaluated this Thursday, in Luanda, with the Ambassador of the United States of America to Angola, Tulinabo Mushingi, the details regarding the preparation of the US-Africa Summit, to be held in Washington from the 13th to the 15th. December since year.

The US-Africa Summit, announced by the President of the United States of America Joe Biden, intends to place American leaders at the same table for the discussion of quaestors of common interest, with a view to strengthening relations between the two continents.

The summit will demonstrate the United States of America’s enduring commitment to Africa, and underline the importance of US-Africa relations and greater cooperation on shared global priorities, and build on common values ​​to promote the new economic commitment, strengthen actions in favor of democracy, human rights and mitigate the impact of Covid-19 and future pandemics on African States.

The US-Africa Summit is facilitated by the President of the Republic, after being requested by the US authorities in July this year.

The Ambassador of the United States of America, Tulinabo Mushingi, explained, at the time, that the request for the designation of the Angolan “focal point” to coordinate the details of the summit with the Government of his country was “promptly accepted by President João Lourenço” .

We will continue to discuss all the details of the summit with the focal point indicated by President João Lourenço”, said Tulinabo Mushingi on that occasion, for whom the event will not only be what the United States wants to debate, but what Africans want to discuss, above all the way to continue moving forward with partnerships, towards progress on both sides.
