Africa-Press – Angola. The vice-governor for the Technical and Infrastructure sector of Uíge, Helena Pereira, highlighted this Sunday, in the municipality of Púri (Uíge), the bravery of former combatants in the struggle for national liberation.

Speaking at the provincial event on the 4th of February, the day of the beginning of the armed struggle for national liberation, Helena Pereira said that the sacrifice of the former combatants culminated in the achievement of national Independence, on the 11th of November 1975.

For this reason, he reiterated the Government’s commitment to continuing to pay better attention to these heroes of the Angolan nation, as well as the population in general.

In the event, which took place under the motto “Let us preserve the values ​​of the country and honor our heroes”, the person in charge highlighted, on the other hand, the need to preserve peace, justifying that it allowed free movement, construction of several schools, hospitals , roads and other infrastructure in the country.

In the message from the former combatants, the heroes of the country requested the review of the current pension, support for cooperatives and agricultural associations in accessing credit, agility in the inclusion of pension payments to pre-candidates and the improvement of the social conditions of the class.

The provincial event was also marked by the laying of a wreath at the tomb of the Unknown Soldier, in the city of Uíge.

At the end of the activity, members of the provincial government visited the agricultural fair, which showcases the agricultural potential of that location.
