Africa-Press – Angola. The Deputy Governor of Cabinda for the Economic sector, Macário Lembe, appealed to the national and foreign business class to invest in the province’s mining sector.

The vice-governor made this appeal at the opening of the conference on “Evolution and Perspectives of Mining Activity in Cabinda”, promoted by the provincial secretariat of Industry, Mining Resources and Petroleum, to welcome Mining Workers’ Day, celebrated on Saturday.

Macário Lembe stated that the current socio-economic reality of the province and the country is characterized by market dynamics and economic growth, which increasingly calls for private investment.

He indicated the existence of a great mining potential in the subsoil of Cabinda, such as oil, natural gas, phosphate, mercury, inert materials, phatic rocks, bituminous asphalt, granite, limestone, iron, among others, which require investment.

He expressed the State’s interest in the mining sector, in increasing employment, collecting tax revenue, combating poverty and improving the living conditions of the population.

He recommended that holders of mining rights in the province ensure the employment and training of Angolan technicians and workers, preferably those residing in the areas of their mining concessions.

During the conference, the topics “Crimes against the environment” and “Evolution of the Mineração do Lufo and Buco-Zau projects” were discussed.
