Africa-Press – Angola. The Vice-President of the Republic, Esperança da Costa, visited Kimpa Vita University on Monday (09), in the capital city of the northern province of Uíge, with the aim of verifying its functioning and the institution’s teaching conditions.
During the visit, Esperança Costa met with the university’s governing body, toured various academic and administrative areas of the university campus, and learned about the functioning of the Faculties of Law, Economics, Engineering, and the Polytechnic Institute.
In statements to the press, the secretary of State for Higher Education, Eugénio Alves da Silva, informed that the visit allowed for the identification of difficulties and positive results, affirming that the university has registered advances in teaching, scientific research, and university extension.
He said that the institution develops funded projects in the areas of wastewater treatment and supplying this liquid to communities.
Regarding the introduction of the Medicine Course, he stressed that the process is under analysis at the supervising ministry.
In turn, the rector of Kimpa Vita University, Pedro Vita, pointed out the budget, which he considered insufficient, and the lack of transportation for students as the main constraints.
Kimpa Vita University, composed of three faculties and a Polytechnic Institute, offers courses in Nursing, Computer Engineering, Agronomy, Law, Accounting and Management, Economics, IT Management, Clinical Analysis and Hydraulic Engineering.
