Africa-Press – Angola. More than ten thousand people, including small entrepreneurs and employees from the public and private sectors, have already benefited from financing from the Wiliete microcredit agency in the last six years.
Created in 2018 by the FAW business group to grant microcredits to small entrepreneurs, the Wiliete Crédito agency is a non-bank financial institution supervised by the National Bank of Angola (BNA) and has already expanded to Huíla, Huambo and Cuando Cubango.
Since 2018, the year the agency was founded in Benguela, until at least 2022, the Wiliete Crédito agency has already released more than three billion kwanzas in microcredit for entrepreneurs not served by the banking system and without access to traditional credit.
According to the commercial director of Wiliete Crédito, Jackson Capusso, six years later, the institution remains focused on its main objective of providing credit to small entrepreneurs, whether they are public or private employees.
He added that the credit varies from 100 thousand kwanzas, at least, to seven million, at most, with the interest rate reduced from ten to seven or five percent, depending on the amount requested.
He highlighted, for example, that loans above two million kwanzas correspond to an interest rate of seven percent, but if it is one million and 999 thousand kwanzas, the rate is only five percent.
Jackson Capusso says that the company is willing to help the country grow, which is why it is financing micro and small entrepreneurs who wish to open or expand their business in different areas.
Therefore, he recalled that Wiliete Crédito also has a microcredit line at a rate of 1.67 percent for formalized economic agents, within the scope of the Informal Economy Reconversion Program (PREI).
Agriculture
It also addresses family farming as a segment of the institution, helping peasants and artisanal fishermen to develop their activity, within the scope of the commitment to combat poverty.
In total, the commercial director of Wiliete Crédito estimates that more than a thousand family farmers have already been financed, with a limit of seven million for each.
In the case of entrepreneurs or cooperatives, the manager notes that it is necessary to go into the field to study the viability of their activity, advising them to choose the most appropriate investment.
“There are those who come to request seven million, but when we go to the field there are still no guarantees”, he said, adding that, in this case, the credit is reviewed according to the customer’s reimbursement conditions.
Expansion
In addition to the provinces of Benguela, Huambo, Huíla and Cuando Cubango, Wiliete Crédito’s actions also extend to Bié, Cuanza-Sul and Namibe.
According to the interviewee, the acceptance of Wiliete’s products is such that new customers are attracted and financed every day, in a simplified way.
“We already have a portfolio of over ten thousand financed customers”, he revealed, recognizing that beneficiaries have complied with the repayment period of up to 24 months, except for one or the other.
As it is less bureaucratic, accessible and agile, he highlighted that Wiliete always seeks to differentiate itself from traditional banking, which is why it responds to customer requests within 24 or 48 hours.
The Wiliete microcredit agency was present at the 13th edition of the Benguela International Fair (FIB), where it financed 48 clients, of the more than 300 who requested information about its services, from the 22nd to the 26th of May, at the Ombaka National Stadium.
