Africa-Press – Angola. The level of execution of works on the future Huambo Military Regional Hospital is satisfactory and follows the schedule defined by the parties, stated the Minister of National Defense and Veterans of the Nation, João Ernesto dos Santos.

The government official made this statement Sunday, to the press after a two-day visit to Huambo where he noted, among others, the level of physical execution of the project, located in the Cavongo neighborhood, on the outskirts of the capital city of this region of the Central Plateau.

João Ernesto dos Santos highlighted that, despite the intense rain, the work is progressing at a good pace and the contractor, in turn, promises to comply with the deadlines established in the contract, between the Ministry of National Defense and Veterans of the Fatherland and the construction company.

He assured that the works on the future Regional Hospital of the Angolan Armed Forces (FAA) in the province of Huambo, which constitutes the Central Military Region Command, which includes Benguela, Bié and Cuanza Sul, will be completed in 2025.

Demining actions

The minister also visited the base for the maintenance, repair and conservation of specialized resources made available to the demining brigades, in the town of Essaque, municipality of Chicala-Cholohanga, in the eastern corridors of the province of Huambo.

By the way, the official said he visited the place because there are still areas with mines and explosive devices, all over the country, as a result of the 27 years of armed conflict.

He informed that it is the responsibility of the Ministry of National Defense and Veterans of the Homeland, to conduct the demining process of areas that are yet to be demined.

According to the minister, both the provincial governments and the Central Government have been working with the Ministry of National Defense and Veterans of the Homeland in presenting the needs and areas that require intervention.

“It was, for this reason, that we were recently in the province of Cuando Cubango, where we delivered resources to support the demining program”, said the official.

He added that the sector has supported the Ministries of Energy and Water and Public Works, Urban Planning and Housing in the demining of the intervened areas, such as access roads and energy transport lines, especially from Malange to Cuanza Norte and then from Huambo to Huíla.

During the two-day working day in Huambo, minister João Ernesto dos Santos also assessed the operational level of the Army Troop Training Center “Heróis de Kangamba”, located 24 kilometers east of the Military Region Command Post Center.

Before heading to Luanda (capital of the country), the government leader led an operational meeting this morning, which was attended by the governor of the province of Huambo, Lotti Nolika, and local heads of defense, security and internal order bodies.
