Africa-Press – Angola. Young university students from the province of Namibe expressed their interest in hearing, at the meeting between the President of the Republic, João Lourenço, and the local government, Sunday (19), statements on employment and housing aimed at this fringe of society.
Speaking about the visit of the President of the Republic, João Lourenço, to the province, the young people were unanimous in stating that among the problems that most afflict them are employment and access to housing, factors that in their view have considerably affected the families.
Alberto Fundila, a university student studying Electrical Engineering, says that, at this point, what we want to hear in the President’s speech is the topic related to employment, a phenomenon that, according to him, has sickened many young people, “because without a job, men become He becomes almost useless to his family and is unable to solve his problems.”
Mário Samba, university professor of the Mathematics course, says that employment, at this time, is the fundamental piece that must be portrayed at this meeting, where policies to solve this problem must be activated, such as the opening of more public competitions, not only in Education and Health sector, but also in others so that all those who have had training in different areas can find their first job and thus be able to provide a living for their families.
Marta da Silva Lote, who completed her degree in Accounting and Management, is of the opinion that, at this meeting, President João Lourenço will focus on infrastructure, specifically the distribution of land for the construction of his own house.
“The government of Namíbe has been distributing plots of land so that popular people can build their homes, but there are still few of them, we need to open up more plotted space so that the majority of young people can benefit” , he said.
He also highlighted that the municipality of Moçâmedes has numerous spaces, land reserves, which can be well subdivided and distributed to citizens who dream of having their own home.
For traditional authorities, the expectation is centered on the creation of programs that aim to increase family farming, in order to combat hunger and poverty within families.
Another interviewee was soba Feliciano António, who says a greater focus on agriculture will help families who are still experiencing drought today to find food to sustain themselves.
“Agriculture is fundamental, as our President must talk a little about this sector, specifically about the acquisition of means to increase production, such as seeds, fertilizers and others”, he added.
Throughout the round carried out, in general, aspects linked to the improvement of the water supply system, electricity, improvement of access roads, especially in those peripheral neighborhoods of the city, where the lack of these services has caused the rate of delinquency, also account for the concerns presented.
The President of the Republic works this Saturday in the Yona National Park, where he will inaugurate the support infrastructure for this tourist area that delights any national or foreign visitor.
