Africa-Press – Angola. Young people descending from ex-soldiers residing in rural areas of Cuanhama municipality, Cunene province, Tuesday, in Ondjiva, benefited from professional kits to encourage self-employment in communities.

These are 15 who received the same number of pastry, decoration and cutting and sewing kits, acquired under the Local Development and Combating Poverty Programme, by the municipal administration of Cuanhama.

The municipal administrator of Cuanhama, José Kalomo, at the delivery ceremony, said that the costs of acquiring the kits and training the young people were estimated at 10 million, 520 thousand and 229 kwanzas.

He informed that the young people selected in rural areas are children of ex-soldiers, who previously underwent a three-month professional training, in order to carry out the activity with entrepreneurship techniques.

“We are working diligently within the scope of the local development program and fight against poverty, to create conditions for the reduction of unemployment among young people”, he stressed.

José Kalomo advised young people to know how to take advantage of the means received to create jobs for other young people in the municipality.

The municipality of Cuanhama, seat of the province of Cunene, has 360 thousand and 491 inhabitants, distributed in the communes of Oshimolo, Ondjiva, Evale, Mônga and Nehone.
