Africa-Press – Angola. The governor of Zaire, Adriano Mendes de Carvalho, expressed his openness to dialogue with youth and other segments of society, in order to jointly find solutions to the province’s problems.
Adriano Mendes de Carvalho, who was speaking yesterday, in Mbanza Kongo, at the first meeting with young people from the province, recalled that youth is the driving force of society.
“We are here to listen and talk a little with the young people of the province and learn about their main concerns. In this, our first meeting of the many that we will have, it does not mean that we are going to deal with everything today we can do, what is the best solution to see the province take a quantitative and qualitative leap”, stressed the governor.
Adriano Mendes de Carvalho said that, despite being the governor, the youth of the province always has something to say about solving the problems of scholarships, sports, as well as those related to Health, Housing, Education and Employment.
“We are here to hear from the youth what the paths can be or how we can rub shoulders with the other provinces, how to get scholarships, how to solve the problem of sport, how to solve the problems of hospitals, social houses, in the field of universities, employment, what is the best solution?”, he added.
The governor of Zaire believes that with the contribution of everyone, especially the local youth, he can raise the province to the desired levels for the satisfaction of its inhabitants.
“We must all find a very cordial way to bring the province to a successful conclusion. And I think it is possible not to talk too much, we must be practical to solve the problems that afflict us”, he underlined.
For the executive secretary of the Provincial Youth Council in Zaire, Aguinelo Mukolo Alberto, the memorandum presented at the first meeting with the governor contains several points about the main concerns of youth, because if they are addressed, they will give a new reality to the region.
“As young people, we suggest careful and effective monitoring for the completion of the General Hospital of Zaire, whether the Higher Institute of Health Sciences is built, a new Soyo Municipal Hospital is built, decent facilities for higher education are built in Mbanza Kongo and in Soyo, because the current ones do not offer conditions or dignify the historical dimension of this province, where the laboratories are included. The construction of a professional training center in the municipalities of Nóqui, Tomboco and its equipping, are part of our suggestions”, said the youth leader.
Taking into account the province’s potential in the Agricultural, Mining and Fisheries sectors, the young people suggested the construction of secondary schools for Fisheries in the municipality of Nzeto, one for Agronomy in Mbanza Kongo, Tomboco and Kuimba.
“We need technical courses that can empower young people to practice agriculture, a sector that employs a lot of people and if they are implemented (schools), we think they can be a lever for the province. We suggest the construction of these institutions”, added Aguinelo Mukolo Alberto .
The youth suggested the materialization of the promises in the area of housing, with emphasis on the construction of two centralities of 1500 apartments each, in the municipalities of Mbanza Kongo and Soyo, whose spaces have reservations for other subsequent phases.
“We ask for an advocacy in national banking, for the granting of housing credit, according to notice no. appealed.
As for building materials, they called for a review of prices, as they are far beyond their purchasing capacity, which makes it impossible for young people to build their own home.
“We suggest that there be a policy that allows the cost of construction materials to be lowered, namely the price of a load of sand, gravel, a bag of cement, irons, as they are making it difficult for young people to build a house. A carload of sand can cost more than 200,000 kwanzas here in Mbanza Kongo”, he concluded.
As for the roads, the young people hope that the main sections that connect the province with the others will be built, as well as the rehabilitation of others no less important for the development process of Zaire.
