Diplomats in Cairo reactivate consultation

Africa-Press – Botswana. Ambassadors of the Southern African Development Community (SADC) accredited in Egypt decided, in a meeting held Thursday in Cairo, to revitalize the consultation group. The group has not met since February 27, 2020, due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

During the meeting, which constitutes a cycle of opportunity for debates and approaches to common issues and strategies, the activity reports were analyzed and the action plan for the period 2022-2023 was drawn up.

The new ambassadors of Mozambique, South Africa, Comoros and Namibia, accredited in the Arab Republic of Egypt (ERA), were also presented. It was also recommended to create an investment profile for each member state, as well as the potential and interest for investments and businesses.

The meeting took place at the Angolan embassy in Cairo at the initiative of Ambassador Nelson Cosme. SADC members are Angola, South Africa, Botswana, Comoros, Eswatini, Democratic Republic of Congo, Lesotho, Madagascar, Malawi, Mauritius, Mozambique, Namibia, United Republic of Tanzania, Zambia, Zimbabwe and Seychelles.
