Africa-Press – Botswana. Matsaudi Primary School teachers have been implored to embrace technology and explore e-learning opportunities to advance their competencies.

It is important for teachers to gain the competencies to enhance pupils’ learning through technology as studies have proven that the use of technology devices in classroom increased learner engagement and assisted teachers in creating lessons based on pupils’ interest and strengths.

North West Regional chief education officer, Mr Kegodile Mahudinga said this during a donation of e-learning devices worth over P90 000 to ensure the community of Matsaudi school was fully equipped with the latest teaching and learning technology.

The donation by Botswana Telecommunication Corporation (BTC) was part of their corporate social responsibility and entailed an extensive library content from primary to secondary level syllabus, past examination papers, educational quizzes, e-library books and engaging video tutorials.

Technology, he said also enabled teachers to improve their instruction methods, personalised learning and appreciated that with the e-learning devices received, they would see improvement in the education quality and performance in the region.

Mr Mahudinga said teachers could leverage technology to achieve new levels of productivity, implement useful digital tools to expand learning opportunities for their learners and increase leaner support and engagement.

As advances in technology drive globalisation and digital transformation, he said they could help learners acquire the necessary skills to succeed in the careers of the future and hence developing the 21st century leaner the country so much wish for.

However, he expressed gratitude to BTC for having chosen one of the schools in the region as a recipient of the e-learning devices noting that the donation would certainly make a profound impact on academic pursuits.

Mr Mahudinga noted that there were times when their dream of integrating technology in learning in primary schools was impossible but appreciated that BTC assistance would help realize the dream.

“Your donation has not only alleviated the financial burden associated with acquiring these e-learning devices but will also serve as a source of motivation and inspiration for our learners to strive for excellence in their studies. You generous donation indeed represents an investment in the future of our learners,” he added.

BTC chief operations officer, Mr Aldrin Sivako said education lied at the very heart of the corporation’s transformative vision and it was through their innovative e-learning initiatives that they illuminate the path to progress for learners.

The donation and unveiling of the state of the art e-learning suite, he said was a digital sanctuary of knowledge that transcended borders and limitations of Matsaudi school noting that the transformational device was more than a repository of educational materials as it was a gateway to a world of limitless possibilities for young learners and future leaders.

Education, he said was a cornerstone of a thriving society and the corporation was committed to making learning accessible to all regardless of geographical location.

“Our e-learning platform is designed to revolutionise the educational landscape and bring new dimensions to how pupils interact with knowledge. Our vision extends beyond merely providing content, but we aim to foster a dynamic learning environment that empowers pupils to shape their educational journey actively,” he added.

Mr Sivako further revealed that the corporation aimed to level the playing field for all learners in the region with the brilliant platform, foster a love for learning and ignite the flames of academic brilliance in every young soul they touch.

One of the teachers, Ms Cecilia Kandjai said the donation would make a huge difference as far as teaching and learning were concerned.

She thanked BTC for the donation adding that the device would not only benefit learners and teachers but other employees in the village keen to develop themselves to attain growth.
