Africa-Press – Botswana. Kago Academy in Palapye has been hailed for the hard work, dedication, passion and zeal it continues to display in performing its task of training servants of God.
The Assistant Minister of Education and Skills Development, Mr Aubrey Lesaso heaped the praise on the academy during the graduation ceremony of pastors who completed certificates, diplomas and Bachelor’s Degrees in Theology and Honorary Doctorates in leadership development.
He said Kago Academy is the Titus of today and it is left to straighten out what was left unfinished and to appoint leaders.
Mr Lesaso said the world today is grappling with a host of challenges ranging from unpredictable changes in climate, resource depletion to social inequalities, indiscipline of children and general disorderliness in the world, leading to high rates of theft, rape, robberies and many other social ills.
He said there is no doubt that there is need for more men and women of God who are blameless, not quick tempered, not given to drunkenness, not violent, hospitable, men and women who love what is good and are self- controlled to help face these social ills head-on.
The assisttant minister said it gives the country hope when events like the graduation of pastors are witnessed where men and women took the initiative against all odds to pursue education and learning not only to develop their lives but also to serve the nation.
“Your kind of education is a selfless one and I believe you have vowed to serve selflessly in your respective vocations and calling with knowledge, passion, understanding and love,” he said.
He noted that the theme for the gathering, ‘Transformation To Godliness Mindset Change’, resonates with President Dr Mokgweetsi Masisi’s call to change mindset.
Mr Lesaso said Saint Paul in Romans 12: 12 also calls for the renewing of the mind. “The world is changing and so is our country Botswana.
Change is inevitable and Botswana needs to change in order to attain a high income status,” he said.
He further said change is good but at times it attracts negative impacts, which the nation needs to address.
Throughout this journey to transform Botswana, he said pastors, evangelists, teachers, prophets and apostles are needed to help address the various challenges that bedevil the communities.
He said it is the responsibility of leaders to ensure that the innovations that are driven are not only economically viable but also environmentally and socially responsible.
As they will be serving in different denominations, Mr Lesaso said they should incorporate sustainability into their decision making process and be conscious of their environmental impact, engage in ethical sourcing and advocate social responsibility.
“Know that you are the voice of the voiceless, be the voice of the widows and widowers, orphans and vulnerable children, take care of the elders through your churches and other establishments,” he urged them.
The Dean of Kago Academy, Prophetess Kago Maja said her school is raising men and women who want to go out and preach the gospel and those who want to go out and counsel those who are going through trauma.
She said they believe that God has just given them the privilege to go out and reach out to those people who need this knowledge.
Prophetess Maja said they also coach people to bring life to otherd and her school has collaborated with the Community Bible College and Seminary in Ghana.
Dr Life Mashumba from Lijoka Investment challenged church leaders to study the Bible before they preach to avoid a church that is busy messing up the whole country and urged them to be more equipped.
