TSOGWANE HAILS FLYWORX FOR DRIVING DIGITIZATION IN SCHOOLS

Africa-Press – Botswana. Flyworx, a consumer electronics company has been commended for partnering with government to drive digitisation in schools, which is critical in achieving a knowledge based economy.

Vice President Mr Slumber Tsogwane said this on Thursday following the company’s donation of an 82-inch smart white board worth P65 000 and a 65-inch interactive touch display valued at P85 000 to Motlopi Junior Secondary school.

He noted that Flyworx had heeded the call for public private partnerships, stating that government alone could not afford to deliver developments to Batswana.

Mr Tsogwane stated that Botswana’s digital transformation strategy had seen schools connected to high speed Internet through SmartBots village connectivity, giving pupils across the country access to e-learning.

He noted that senior school pupils were allocated laptops in 2022. The aim, he said was to achieve a knowledge based economy by 2036.

Flyworx General Manager Mr George Molokwane said the aim was to enhance efficiency in education, paving the way for a brighter future.

Mr Molokwane stated that by equipping schools with devices, the company was making an effort to bridge the digital divide and to ensure equal opportunities for all learners.

The devices, he said were not just tools, but catalysts for change, adding that they empowered educators to ignite a passion for learning, inspire creativity as well as equip learners with skills needed to thrive in the modern world.

The school head, Ms Senatla Mokobela said their hope was that the donated equipment would make a difference in the teaching and learning process.

She said it would improve academic performance and would make learning interesting to the learners. She indicated that the issue of shortage of textbooks would be addressed.
