Africa-Press – Botswana. In an effort to enhance sports development in the southern region, Asphalt Botswana has donated sports equipment to Kanye United Football Club through its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative.
The donation, valued at P41 600, includes 25 pairs of soccer boots, two complete soccer kits, two pairs of goalkeeper gloves, a soccer net, and corner flags.
During the handover ceremony held on Wednesday, Ministry of Sport and Arts coordinator for Kanye District, Mr Moeti Godisamang praised Asphalt Botswana for its contribution.
He noted that supporting sports could greatly benefit Botswana’s economy, emphasising the alignment of the initiative with the pillars of Botswana Vision 2036, particularly in promoting sport tourism and alleviating unemployment.Asphalt Botswana Site Manager, Mr Oscar Maribeng stated that the donation aimed to inspire young people to discover and hone their sporting talents, steering them away from negative influences. He urged Kanye United FC to meticulously care for the equipment and utilise it effectively.
Kanye United FC manager, Mr Mathews Ramolala, expressed gratitude to Asphalt Botswana, stating that the assistance would significantly alleviate the team’s financial struggles in acquiring sports gear.
