Africa-Press – Botswana. Over 750 athletes from across the country are expected to participate in the Botswana Athletics Association (BAA) National Championships. The championships will take place in Francistown at Obed Itani Chilume Stadium from May 16 to 18.
Athletes from both youth and junior categories will all compete for the chance to represent Botswana on larger stages. The aim is to showcase the rising talent of Botswana’s athletic stars. Qualified athletes will be vying for spots at the upcoming CAA Africa U18/U20 Championships scheduled in Abeokuta, Nigeria in July 2025, as well as for a spot at the World Athletics Championships in Tokyo, Japan, set for September 2025.
BAA board member Tebatso Omphemetse said the championships was expected to foster sports development within Botswana. “This event is vital for celebrating our athletes’ successes, motivating aspiring competitors, and inspiring hope for the future of athletics,” he said.
