Africa-Press – Botswana. The Botswana Darts Association (BODA) has announced the selection of 16 athletes across the under 15 and under 18 categories, including both boys and girls, to represent Botswana at the upcoming Africa Union Sports Council Youth Darts Championships (Region 5).

The championships are set to take place in Mazuwe, Zimbabwe, at the end of August this year.

The selection process culminated on Saturday at a national tournament held at Mater Spei College in Francistown.

The selected athletes were recognised for their exceptional skills and dedication throughout the competition.

In the under 18 boy’s category, the selected athletes include Gofaone Tamucha from Shashe River School in Tonota, Moitshepi Motlogelwa from Molefhi Senior Secondary School, Thabiso Tadubana from Mater Spei College and Frabregas Gomang (currently out of school).

Floyd Bakang has been designated as a reserve for this category.

For the under 15 boys, Junior Baakile from Lebogang Junior Secondary School, Ethern Moloi from Tonota Junior Secondary School, Jasson Marisa from Dawn Bell Academy, and Daniel Kemang and Laone Nthabiseng, both from Tonota Junior Secondary school, have secured their places in the tournament.

The Under 18 girls saw Montle Matlho, Amanda Malidza, Wame Mabelebele, all from Mater Spei College, Laone Kereteletswe from Shashe River School and Tshepnag Balang (currently out of school) making it to the tournament.

The under 15 girl’s category representatives include Chedu Siwame from Saint Arnold Primary School, Sandile Kontopo, Katlego Tatlha, and Kagiso Sikwane all from Tonota Junior Secondary School, as well as Katlo Setlhare from Letlhabile Junior Secondary School.

BODA’s public relations officer, Edith Bakaang expressed satisfaction with the selection tournament, stating: “The tournament went as planned, and we are hopeful that this formidable team will make the country proud by securing the desired medals.”

She also urged the parents of the athletes to provide their unwavering support during the tournament to help ensure their children perform to the best of their abilities.
