Africa-Press – Botswana. Tsabong District is making preparations to host a memorial service to honor the late Dr Micus Chimbombi, a revered Member of Parliament for the area and former Minister of Lands and Agriculture, at Tsabong main kgotla on Friday.
Tsabong District Commissioner Mr Levis Thupa confirmed that several stakeholders were expected to attend the memorial service. “The community is invited to come honour their Member of Parliament,” he said, emphasising the inclusive nature of the event.
He added that the service would provide an opportunity for residents to collectively mourn and celebrate the life and significant contributions by the late MP, whose dedication to both national service and the Kgalagadi South constituency left a profound impact.
Dr Chimbombi who passed away peacefully on Saturday at Sedilega Private Hospital, surrounded by his immediate family will be laid to rest at his home village in Makopong on Sunday.
The Chimbombi family has released the tentative arrangements for prayers and funeral proceedings. From Monday to Tuesday, family gatherings and prayers were held at Tloaneng, near Gabane.
On Thursday, Ms Chimbombi and the children will depart for Makopong. Family gathering and prayers will continue at Makopong on Friday. On Saturday, the body of the Dr Chimbombi will depart for Makopong, where, upon arrival, part 1 of the funeral proceedings will commence.
The official funeral service and burial will take place at Makopong on Sunday. Further details regarding the memorial service venue and transport logistics is to communicated in due course.
Family expressed profound gratitude for the outpouring support, prayers, and condolences from across the nation and the broader church community. They described Dr Chimbombi as a beloved husband, father, brother, uncle, grandfather, and statesman, highlighting his loving nature, nurturing spirit, and role as the steady anchor of their family.
His leadership, strength, wisdom, and unwavering love, they noted, were a continuous source of inspiration and a pillar of support throughout every season. His legacy, they added, would endure far beyond his death.
