Africa-Press – Botswana. Embarking on a weight loss journey has proved to be a challenging endeavour for many. Some quit along the way, while some push through until they reach their target. One such, who beat the odds to reach her ultimate goal, is Tebogo Moribame-Setiko, who penned her weight loss chronicles in a non-fiction wellness guidebook titled, When All Else Had Failed: My 30kg (66lbs) Weight Loss Odyssey.

The book chronicles Moribame-Setiko’s 12-month personal journey of shedding 30kg, dropping from 96kg to 66kg.

Written over a period of eight months, the 27-chapter book, offers readers Moribame-Setiko’s real-life experiences with weight loss, as well as practical strategies and sustainable lifestyle changes.

In the book, Moribame-Setiko opens up about moments of deep insecurity and the disheartening feeling of not recognising herself in the mirror.

“What is one supposed to do when all else has failed?” she asked in the first chapter, a question that sparked the title of her book.

“Weight loss is the most daunting endeavour I have ever embarked on,” said Moribame-Setiko, who described the journey as almost insurmountable after years of trying countless diets, workout regimens and quick-fix solutions that left her feeling defeated.

At 45, Moribame-Setiko found herself not only struggling with excess weight, but also the emotional and psychological burdens that came with it.

However, everything changed when she developed her own system; The Weight Reset, following months of intensive research and personal experimentation.

“This approach, which I have detailed in the book, helped me shed unwanted kilos and create sustainable change in how I relate to food,” she said, expressing hope that her work would inspire people of all ages to pursue positive, healthy body goals.

Former minister of health, Prof. Sheila Tlou, who lauched the book recently, lauded The Weight Reset programme for its holistic and evidence-based approach.

“In The Weight Reset, Kiki outlines a multifaceted framework that addresses the physical, psychological, and emotional components often overlooked in weight loss journey. It is thoughtfully designed to empower both men and women,” said Prof. Tlou. She added that Moribame-Setiko’s emphasis on understanding one’s relationship with food, cultivating a healthy mindset, and creating a supportive environment, set the book apart from typical diet narratives.

Moribame-Setiko’s work is the culmination of extensive research on nutrition, the human body and metabolism, conducted in collaboration with experts in the field.
