President Duma Boko Calls for Respect and Restraint in Relationships

Africa-Press – Botswana. President Advocate Duma Gideon Boko has delivered a powerful message on emotional responsibility, urging women to avoid using hurtful words during arguments. Speaking in Francistown at the Botswana Police Service Commissioners Marathon, he warned that words can cut deep, damaging men’s self-esteem and ego, and sometimes pushing them toward irrational or violent behavior.

He reminded women that they are the nurturers of families and should use their strength to build, not to destroy. “Women hold the heart of the family,” he said, emphasizing the power of calm communication in resolving conflicts.

President Boko also challenged men to rise above anger and violence. He said real strength lies in protection, not aggression. “Men must be the pillars of their families and the guardians of their communities,” he added. His words urged men to embrace patience and understanding instead of turning to harmful actions.

Turning to marriage, the President gave a practical piece of advice to couples. He encouraged those planning to marry to do so out of community of property, explaining that it prevents complicated disputes during divorce. He revealed that Botswana’s High Courts are currently handling over 2000 unresolved divorce cases, a sign of growing marital strain in the country.

Boko’s message was clear. Relationships thrive on respect, self-control, and emotional maturity. His speech called on both men and women to communicate with care, protect each other, and strengthen families as the foundation of a stable society.
