President Boko'S Working Visits to Oman UAE and Switzerland

Africa-Press – Botswana. President Advocate Duma Gideon Boko has departed Botswana for a series of high-level working visits to Oman, the United Arab Emirates, and Switzerland. The visits, which run from 19 to 29 October 2025, aim to attract investment and deepen international economic partnerships that align with Botswana’s development goals.

The trip will focus on key sectors such as financial services, minerals development, infrastructure, agriculture, energy, and telecommunications. These industries are central to Botswana’s diversification strategy and long-term economic resilience.

From 19 to 25 October, President Boko will hold strategic meetings in Muscat, Ras Al Khaimah, and Abu Dhabi. His itinerary includes talks with major investors and institutions such as the Oman Investment Authority. The discussions will explore new pathways for Government-to-Government and Business-to-Business cooperation designed to unlock capital flows, expand trade, and create sustainable employment for Batswana.

Between 25 and 29 October, the President will continue his mission in Geneva, Switzerland. There, he will engage with international CEOs, entrepreneurs, and global investors to strengthen Botswana’s position as a competitive and stable investment destination. The meetings will center on building mutually beneficial partnerships that drive growth and innovation in Botswana’s emerging industries.

President Boko is accompanied by senior government officials tasked with advancing sector-specific discussions and laying the groundwork for future agreements. The delegation’s goal is to secure commitments that will accelerate infrastructure development, improve productivity, and expand export capacity.

During his absence, Minister for State President Honourable Moeti C. Mohwasa will serve as Acting President from 19 to 21 October. Vice President Honourable Ndaba Nkosinathi Gaolathe will then assume the role from 21 to 29 October until President Boko’s return to Gaborone.

The working visits underscore Botswana’s proactive approach to attracting foreign investment and fostering global partnerships. By engaging directly with investors and government leaders, President Boko continues to position Botswana as a gateway for responsible investment and inclusive growth in Southern Africa.
