Vice President Ndaba Gaolathe on December 22 joined senior citizens and People with Disabilities in Sehithwa for an early Christmas lunch hosted by Kgosi Keokeditswe Dithapo and his wife, Gaongalelwe. The gathering brought residents together to share a meal, laughter and the spirit of Christmas in an atmosphere of unity and care.
The event focused on inclusion and appreciation for elderly persons and People with Disabilities. It created a space where community members could connect and feel valued during the festive season. The celebration highlighted the importance of collective responsibility in supporting vulnerable groups.
Speaking at the event, Mr Gaolathe thanked the Dithapo family for showing genuine love and care toward senior citizens and People with Disabilities. He described the gesture as a meaningful example of community leadership and compassion. He said such initiatives strengthened social bonds and reminded communities of shared values.
The Vice President emphasized that senior citizens deserved better recognition for their role in national development. He stated that the elderly had contributed significantly to building the country and had laid a strong foundation that must be preserved. He urged all citizens to protect and build on that foundation to take the country to greater heights.
He described the elderly as pillars of families, noting that they instilled values, taught responsibility and nurtured learning and resilience. According to him, these qualities continue to shape strong families and stable communities across the country.
Maun West Member of Parliament Mr Caterpillar Hikuama also expressed gratitude to the Dithapo family for recognizing senior citizens and People with Disabilities. He acknowledged that elderly people remained the backbone of many households and communities.
Addressing People with Disabilities, Mr Hikuama praised their resilience and presence, saying they inspired everyone around them. He noted that the celebration was a clear sign that every person in the constituency was valued and respected.
The early Christmas lunch in Sehithwa stood as a reminder of the power of compassion and inclusion. It reinforced the message that caring for senior citizens and embracing People with Disabilities strengthens communities and reflects the true spirit of Christmas.
