Acting President Commiserates with Autlwetse Family

Africa-Press – Botswana. Acting President, Mr Ndaba Gaolathe has implored the Autlwetse family at Palamaokue Ward in Serowe to find comfort in God as they mourn the passing of one of their own, Mr Kgotla Autlwetse.

A beloved father figure, mentor, friend, protagonist, exemplary in many spheres of life, one who cherished democracy and blessed with an illustrious life in all commands, Mr Autlwetse died on Tuesday.

“Nothing can separate us from the love of God, neither death nor life as God’s love allows people to conquer adversity,” said Mr Gaolathe during a visit on Thursday, to commiserate with the family.

He said Mr Autlwetse had journeyed to heaven and that no one would be spared from such circumstances.

The Acting President lauded Mr Autlwetse for exemplary leadership, saying his star shone bright to provide light for the nation in situations where it seemed there was no way.

He said the Autlwetse family was blessed to have a member in the mould of the departed, adding that most families never had an opportunity to bring forth an ‘angel in human form,’ who embodied the qualities and characteristics of an angel that often included kindness, compassion, generosity, wisdom and guided by deep sense of purpose and more importantly, the desire to make the world a better place.

Mr Autlwetse exhibited extraordinary kindness and good intentions with subtle or unpretentious nature, Mr Gaolathe said and spoke profoundly about Mr Autlwetse’s good command of the Setswana language.

He wished the soul of the departed would rest in eternal peace, and for the family to also find peace.

The deceased’s brother, Mr Churchill Autlwetse thanked the Acting President for the visit and the warmth he showed the family.

For his part, his brother in-law, Mr Goabamong Setlhaba said Mr Autlwetse had not been well since April and was in and out of hospital.

Mr Setlhaba said he was attended to by a medical team at Gaborone Private Hospital and was advised not to travel long distances.

Mr Autlwetse died June 3, aged 76 and will be laid to rest in his home village, Serowe on June 14.

He is survived by his wife, son, daughter, two brothers and a sister.
