Africa-Press – Botswana. Players in the creative industry must be accorded the well-deserved respect and recognition and that the sector will only grow when those in it know their value, says Actress and Radio Personality, Kgomotso Tshwenyego.

Tshwenyego received a Hall of Fame award on April 30 during the third annual Glitz Awards of BW Celebs nominees’ night at Tlotlo Hotel.

Tshwenyego pleaded with the actors, musicians, social media celebrities to know their worth as through their talents, skills, and creativity to contributed immensely through entertainment as well as being positive inspiration to others.

“You should not be taken for granted because your work has value and deserves recognition and respect,” she said

She said musicians, comedians and all others players in the creatives were exposed to exploitation under the pretext that they were getting free exposure and by so doing their worth and professionalism was being diminished and undermined.

“Exposure alone does not pay the bills or acknowledge the effort you put into your craft,” she said.

Tshwenyego said it was important for artists to advocate for fair compensation to sustain their careers and ensure their contributions were respected.

She said it was important to observe that at times artists agree to deals where they showcase for free.

Glitz Awards of BW Celebs project manager, Nkgopolang Tlhomelang, said the awards celebrate people who make a difference in the industry.

“Whether they are artists, Christian leaders or gender-based violence activists, we have to recognise their contributions to society,” she said.

Also, he said, celebrating them was to acknowledge their efforts in promoting positive change and inspiring others to follow their example and reinforce the importance of their work in shaping and bettering the world for all. Businessman and host of Mogobe nuggets of wisdom, Mompoloki Mogobe, applauded the nominees for their talent.

Mogobe said the awards were not only meant to recognise their hard work and dedication but also provided validation and encouragement to continue pursuing their passion.

Additionally, he said being nominated was opening up a window for new opportunities and increased visibility within the industry, which could lead to further success and growth in one’s career.
