Africa-Press – Botswana. The CAF champions’ league group stages are getting exciting as the games come with supporters looking from their local teams to trump over opponents.
Jwaneng Galaxy, the only club from Botswana in the CFA competition since the campaign began has done relatively well.
Jwaneng Galaxy over the weekend played to a goalless draw with Simba of Tanzania.
On Saturday, Galaxy will host ASEC at Francistown Stadium.
Football commentator, Jimmy George, is of the view that Galaxy has done well so far. “After winning the first match against Wydad it was going to be difficult. Wydad is a big team. They played all out to emerge victorious away. Their performance was destined to drop a bit because the strength they have put against Wydad. To have played to a goalless draw against Simba is commendable, It shows that they are determined to all the time bring positive results,” observed George.
He said that Galaxy is good when playing away matches and at home if they can keep a clean sheet that can always bring three points from away matches. He said Galaxy is not a seasoned team in CAF but the recent performance says the opposite. “I am happy for them. “The team is somehow new in CAF competitions but they are doing well since qualifying for CAF competitions,” he said.
Galaxy is aiming to reach the quarter finals of the CAF champions’ league. Tankiso Morake Galaxy mouthpiece observed that Galaxy has been consistent both in the league and CAF participation hence reaching the group stages.
“We reached the Group stages out of hard work and we are in the group stage not to add numbers but compete and make a mark. We are targeting quarter finals” he said
Against ASEC on Saturday, George is optimistic that the team will emerge victorious or at least play a draw. “I don’t see them losing the weekend encounter,” he said.
The local lads are in Group B with four points together with ASEC, the both played from two encounters.
ASEC beat Wydad over the weekend to top Group B log.
Galaxy will be playing their league match against Morupole Wanderers on Wednesday at Palapye Stadium before the CAF match on Saturday.
