Africa-Press – Botswana. Angola and Botswana will soon sign a Memorandum of Understanding in the field of agriculture and livestock, as part of strengthening cooperation between the two countries.
According to a press release sent this Thursday the decision to sign this Memorandum results from the conclusions drawn from the meeting between the Secretary of State for Agriculture and Livestock of Angola, João Cunha, and the Deputy Minister of Agriculture of Botswana, Molebatsi Shimane, held last Tuesday, in the city of Gaborone, the capital of this country.
According to the document, at the end of the meeting, which was attended by the Angolan ambassador to Botswana, Beatriz Morais, and officials from the ministries of Agriculture, Environment and Tourism of this country, João Cunha said that this mission follows the recent visit of the Angolan President, João Lourenço, to this country.
Quoted in a note, the Angolan Secretary of State said that it was the first technical meeting with the Botswana team, whose conversations were satisfactory, allowing reflection on pertinent technical aspects concerning, fundamentally, the livestock sector.
According to João Cunha, cooperation with the Republic of Botswana is being substantially strengthened, with the Angolan delegation’s mission being to put into practice all the aspects that the Heads of State of the two countries have recently addressed.
For his part, Botswana’s deputy minister of Agriculture reiterated the urgency of implementing the decisions taken by the two presidents, João Lourenço and Mokgweetsi Masisi, respectively.
For five days, the Angolan delegation, led by the Secretary of State, will hold several meetings with public and private entities linked to the Agriculture, Tourism and Environment sectors, as well as having visits to the headquarters of the Botswana Meat Commission (BMC) on the agenda. , National Veterinary Laboratory and the Vaccine Institute of this country.
Also on the agenda is a visit to the Artificial Insemination Center, Livestock Farming Unit and the Industrial Slaughterhouse.
