Africa-Press – Botswana. The literary community of Botswana has been plunged into mourning following the passing of renowned Setswana author and former educator, Mr Tiroentle Pheto, at the age of 76.
Pheto, best known for his book “Botlhodi jwa nta ya Tlhogo,” was hailed as a pillar of the arts, having shaped the minds of generations of students through his works and teaching.
He was the director of the Department of Teaching Service Management when he retired from the civil service.
A family statement made on different media platforms state that his passing will be marked with a memorial service on Thursday at his home in Lekgwapheng ward and subsequent funeral in Molepolole, his home village. where he will be laid to rest.
The statement says he will be remembered as a man of letters, an educator and a successful businessman, underscoring his enduring impact on the literary landscape of Botswana.
